Bio
Weslen T. Lakins is a distinguished attorney and entrepreneur whose practice spans the real estate, finance, and banking industries, with an emphasis on lender-side real estate and finance transactions involving healthcare and other long-term-care assets. He represents lenders and investors on both portfolio and single-asset deals from term sheet through closing and into servicing. Weslen also holds a CIPP/US certification and understands the privacy laws and risk considerations central to his clients’ industries.
Drawing on prior experience in highly regulated environments, Weslen brings a practical, risk-aware approach to structuring, diligence, remedies, and timelines. Beyond healthcare and other long-term-care assets and facilities, his work includes acquisitions and dispositions; development and joint-venture structuring; commercial leasing (office/industrial/retail/ground); title and survey review; easements and access planning; estoppels and SNDAs; escrow and closing management; opinion coordination; and loan modifications/workouts. He regularly coordinates regulatory and agency-form compliance, closing checklists and milestones, entity/authority opinions, and post-closing covenant management.
Outside of work, Wes enjoys cheering on the Vols and spending time with family, friends, and his dog, Theo. He maintains an active lifestyle and is committed to mentoring startups and established companies across Tennessee. Weslen is a member of the ABA, TBA, KBA, TACC, and IAPP. Additionally, Weslen serves as a TBA YLD Board Member and the East Tennessee CLE Chair.
